On Tuesday, the co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates warned people against the current omicron surge in various places of the world. He posted a series of tweets mentioning his close friends who fell prey to Omicron.

He also informed that due to the threat posed by Omicron, he has canceled most of his holiday plans. Additionally, he mentioned that the world could possibly witness the 'worst surge' ever.

"Just when it seemed like life would return to normal, we could be entering the worst part of the pandemic. Omicron will hit home for all of us. Close friends of mine now have it, and I’ve cancelled most of my holiday plans." wrote Bill Gates in a tweet.

He also said, "Omicron is spreading faster than any virus in history. It could soon be in every country in the world."

He also claimed that even if Omicron is half as severe as Delta still it could lead to the worst pandemic surge ever in the world due to its high infectiousness.

In a tweet, he also advised people to take booster doses of the COVID vaccine as it is the best protection against the antigen.

He also said that the Omicron surge will last for less than three months.

"If there’s good news here, it’s that omicron moves so quickly that once it becomes dominant in a country, the wave there should last less than 3 months. Those few months could be bad, but I still believe if we take the right steps, the pandemic can be over in 2022." wrote Bill Gates.
