As per the report released by the anti-poverty organization Oxfam 11 people are dying each minute because of hunger around the globe. The report is titled “The Hunger Virus Multiplies.” The report was released on Thursday and Oxfam said that the death toll due to famine has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic, which has killed seven people per minute.
Oxfam’s America’s President and CEO Abby Maxman said, “The statistics are staggering, but we must remember that these figures are made up of individual people facing unimaginable suffering. Even one person is too many.”

Maxman further said, “Today, unrelenting conflict on top of the COVID-19 economic fallout, and a worsening climate crisis, has pushed more than 520,000 people to the brink of starvation. Instead of battling the pandemic, warring parties fought each other, too often landing the last blow to millions already battered by weather disasters and economic shocks.”
The report further lists the countries which are ‘the worst hunger hot spots’ and those countries include Afghanistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
One of the main reasons for this crisis is the increasing population and lack of information among people. Here are two key points which can contribute to informing people about birth control and its benefits!
Family Planning: Even today some countries in the world are not aware of family planning practices. In such countries, it is important to inform them about the importance of a small family. They should understand that a ‘small family is a happy family.’

Birth Control methods: People must know the drawbacks of overpopulation on the development of the country. Overpopulation means not only the overuse of natural resources but also leads to exploitation of these resources. People should be aware of the methods of birth control, such topics must be discussed openly. Volunteers must explain to the unaware population about condoms and contraceptive pills.
