In a significant development, as many as17 various industries of Ludhiana have placed orders of Covid vaccine worth Rs30,91,700 lakh to administer jabs to their 7,190 employees.

The stock of vaccine is expected to bearrived in the next few days following which the administration would organizethe vaccination camps in their premises.

Disclosing further details, DeputyCommissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that 17 industries have so far orderedvaccine from both manufacturers Serum institute of India and Bharat Biotech,worth Rs 30 lakh for 7,190 workers through the administration.

He said that Ganga Acro Wools limitedhas booked an order for its 3,000 employees and paid Rs 12.90 lakh, Avon Cyclehas paid Rs 2.15 lakh for vaccine of its 500 employees, RB Knit Exports haspaid Rs 90,300 for 210 workers, Bhasin and company paid Rs 21,500 for 50employees, Riddhi Processors Private Limited has made payment of Rs 1.29 lakhfor inoculating 300, Avon Ispat and Power Limited paid Rs 1.17 lakh for 274workers, Eveline International paid Rs 2.15 lakh for 500 workers and Kudu KnitProcess Private Limited paid Rs 86,000 for 200 workers.

Similarly, Globe Automobile PrivateLimited paid Rs 98,470 for 470 employees, Mehta Automotive paid Rs 1.29 lakhfor 300 workers, Vikas Industrial Corporation paid Rs 43,000 for 100 workers,Youngman Woolen Mills paid Rs 1.72 lakh for 820 employees, Eastman Industriespaid Rs 1.53 lakh for 357 employees, Parmeshwari Skills paid Rs 86,000 for 200and Sehaj Solutions has made the payments of Rs 64,500 for its 150 employees,he added.

Terming that the vaccine is the onlyweapon to prevent the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Deputy CommissionerVarinder Kumar Sharma welcomed the utmost interest taken by the industries ingetting their workforce vaccinated at the earliest. He said that acceleratedvaccination would help to bend the curve and would save precious lives from thepandemic.

He said that industries have upheld thetradition of Punjabis by helping their workers in getting the vaccine.

Sharma said as soon as the vaccine arrives, theadministration would start holding camps in the premises of these industries.
