Tata Motors has unveiled the facelifted version of its most popular car, the Nexon, in its electric avatar. The company claims that the new sub-4-metre electric SUV offers a range of 465 kilometres on a full charge.

Tata Motors has unveiled the facelifted version of its most popular car, the Nexon, in its electric avatar. The company claims that the new sub-4-metre electric SUV offers a range of 465 kilometres on a full charge.

The company has updated the car's exterior and interior design, along with adding several segment-first advanced (comfort and safety) features. It competes with the Mahindra XUV400 in its segment.

Launch in three variations on September 14

The Tata Nexon EV is the highest-selling electric SUV in India. Bookings for the updated model will commence on September 9th, coinciding with EV Day. The car will be officially launched on September 14th, and buyers can book it by paying a token amount of INR 21,000 through the official website or at a dealership.

The new Nexon EV will be available in three different trims and two variants. It will offer creative, fearless, and empowered trim options, along with mid-range and long-range variants.

Pricing for the Tata Nexon EV facelift has not been revealed yet. Currently, the Nexon EV starts at INR 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). After the update, prices may increase.

Nexon EV Facelift: Looks and Exterior Design

When it comes to the car's looks and design, the Nexon EV now resembles its petrol-diesel counterparts. The front and rear looks have been completely revamped, giving it a sportier appearance. The front features new LED DRLs and a split headlamp setup. The bumper has a brand new design and lower LED headlamps.

On the sides, it retains the funky 16-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, with the EV badge on the front doors. At the rear, the Nexon gets fully connected LED taillights, which the company calls the 'X Factor Tail Lamp.' It comes with welcome and goodbye functions. The car now offers five new colour options: Pristine White, Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Daytona Grey, and Flame Red.

Nexon EV Facelift: Interior Design

The biggest change inside the cabin of the car is the introduction of a two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, a first in the Indian auto industry. The dashboard features a touch-panel HVAC unit and a new gear selector, giving the car a more luxurious feel.

Additionally, the Tata Nexon EV facelift comes with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Nexon EV Facelift: Motor, Power, and Top Speed

The second-generation motor in the electric SUV is capable of running at higher RPM, ranging from 12,000 to 16,000 RPM. The new motor generates 142.6 bhp of power and a maximum torque of 2,500 Nm. The company claims the car can achieve a speed of 0-100 km/h in just 8.9 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/h, which is 30 km/h higher than the previous model.

The SUV features tyres with the least rolling resistance, and it comes with multi-mode regenerative braking to charge the battery efficiently. The motor is now tuned with a new gear knob and pedal shifter. Additionally, the car offers three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport.

Nexon EV Facelift: Battery, Range, and Charging

The new Tata Nexon EV variant is available in mid-range and long-range options. The mid-range model comes with a 30 kWh battery pack, which claims a range of 325 km on a full charge, an increase of 13 km from the previous model. The long-range variant features a 40.5 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 465 km on a full charge, which is 12 km more than before.

Charging: The new Tata Nexon EV supports 7.2 kWh of charging. The company claims it can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 56 minutes using a fast charger. The model also features V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging capabilities.

Battery Pack Safety: The battery pack is rated with IP67 safety, and other safety features include emergency and breakdown calls, hill descent control, hill ascent control, panic brake alert, auto vehicle hold, and i-TPMS.

Nexon EV Facelift: Comfort Features

The car now offers several advanced features, including Tata's IRA 2.0 mobile connected technology, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, a JBL 9-speaker sound system, a wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Additionally, the segment-first navigation display is featured on the instrument cluster.

Nexon EV Facelift: Safety Features

The new generation Nexon EV comes with new safety features, including a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a first-category blind-view monitor, ESP, six airbags, rollover mitigation, traction control, ISOFIX child anchor seats, and TPMS.
