
Givingaffirmative response to the appeal of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, the26 villages of the district have earned the laurels of becoming 100-percentvaccinated.
Thevillages include Daduwal, Lagriyan, Dhinpur in Rurka Kalan block and Bhullar,Bhoda, Sherpur, Shampur and Rampur in Nurmahal block, Tandi, Cholang, NangalKhurd, Dhudana, Kohja in Bhogpur block, Jania and Dashmesh Nagar in Shahkotblock, Sidhpur in Lohian block, Nangal Jiwan and Chuhar, Kasampur and, Bolinain Jalandhar East and Saifabad, Bacchowal,Bhattian, Mansurpur, Tarkhanmajra,and Jandu Singha village have achieved the feat, where 100 percent vaccinationof willing beneficiaries has been done.Notably, this target has been achieved through an intensive drive inrural areas in last five days.
Congratulatingthe villagers, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori urged the other villages toensure 100-percent coverage of vaccination for preventing the third wave of thepandemic. He said that the only vaccineis long term solution to tackle the pandemic and is an effective weapon to curbthe virus.
DeputyCommissioner said that it was due to efforts on the ground-level healthcareworkers and the panchayat members and SDM Phillaur who pursued eligible beneficiariesto get vaccinated in special camps organized.
Hesaid that earlier there was hesitancy among the people earlier but with teams’efforts, villagers are encouraging each other to come forward and get the jabby clearing their doubts or busting myths.
Thorisaid that the vaccine is like a seat belt which saves the life of the driverduring the mishap and similarly, the vaccine would save the life even when onecontracts the virus and would not have need hospitalization.
Headded that the administration is carrying out the drive in the mission mode andmany more villages would get 100-percent vaccinated in the coming days.
DeputyCommissioner also said that the administration would also send the names ofthese villages to the state government for issuance of the special grant of Rs10 lakh as announced by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for villageswith 100-percent vaccination of the villagers.
