Inyet another shocking incident, a senior citizen was beaten to death while fiveof her family members were critically injured after they were stopped by some Holirevellers from playing Holi outside their residence in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh.

Asper reports, the Holi revellers were in inebriated state when they entered thewoman's house. They reportedly had beaten her to death with sticks and stone. Theincident took place in Mevati Tola locality on Monday afternoon.

Theeyewitnesses at the spot informed that the Holi revellers stopped the old womanfrom playing holi, however, the latter didn’t paid heed to the revellers illogicaldemand and kept on enjoying the festival with her family.

“Asthe revellers were drunk, they entered the woman’s house and started beatingher with stones and sticks. The family members tried to stop them, but theyattacked the family members too”, an eyewitness said.

AdditionalSuperintendent of Police (city) Prashant Kumar Prasad confirmed that that whenother family members tried to save the woman, five of them, including two womenand three children, were also beaten up.

Theinjured meanwhile have been admitted to a hospital and the body of the deceasedhas been sent for autopsy.

Further,in another incident, under Ekdil police circle in the same district, aninebriated youth drove a tractor at high speed and injured six people. Thetractor also got damaged after hitting an electricity pole.

Theyouth was handed over to the police and the injured have been hospitalized,police said.

Localresidents complained of such incidents taking place in the state on regularbasis, while police acting as a mute spectator. They said there is a dire needto control such crimes as people are scared to move out of their houses especiallythe young girls and women.
