Atleast seven persons were killed in a major fire that broke out on the 13thfloor of a multi-storeyed building in Kolkata's Strand Road area on Mondayevening.

Amongthe dead, four were fire brigade officials, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) ofKolkata's Hare Street police station, a railway official and a security person,sources said. Two persons still remain missing in the incident.

Accordingto sources, the name of four fire brigade officers are -- Girish Dey, BimanPurokayet, Gaurav Baij, Aniruddha Jana. The ASI has been identified as AmitBhawal.

"Itis an unfortunate incident. At least seven people were killed in the blaze,including four fire brigade officers and an ASI of Hare Street police station.Two railways officers were also killed in the fire," West Bengal fireservices minister Sujit Bose said.

Atleast 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to bring the situation undercontrol.

Theincident took place at New Koilaghat building on Kolkata's Strand Road. Thebuilding housed offices of the Railways.

WestBengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the spot around 11 p.m.

FormerKolkata Municipal Corporation mayor and chief administrator Firhad Hakim alsoreached the spot to take a stock of the situation. The cause of the fire at theNew Koilaghat building is yet to be confirmed, police said.

Theincident stopped the online booking of tickets in all zones of the EasternRailway as the building, which caught fire, had a computerised ticket bookingcentre on its ground floor.
