It is a matter of pride for anyone to represent their country on an international level and the pride becomes even more when you win for your country but an Iranian boxer victory bliss turned into a nightmare, when her own country issued an arrest warrant against her.
Arrest warrant was issued against Iranian boxer Sadaf Khadem for boxing without hijab. She beat the French boxer Anne Chauvin in an amateur bout on Saturday. She also posted the pictures of her bout on her instagram account, however, this backfired the boxer.
Khadem said, "I was fighting in a legally approved match, in France. But as I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, which is completely normal in the eyes of the entire world, I confounded the rules of my country." She also said, “I wasn't wearing a hijab, I was coached by a man - some people take a dim view of this.
Sadaf Khadem, the first female Iranian boxer to win an overseas fight, has already cancelled her return to Iran and intends to stay in France.
