Promotions for IPS officers in the offing: Punjab to have four new DGP's, ADGP's,

Punjab is likely to have four DGPs in the first week of June.

Punjab is going to have four new DGPs. Mr. Barjinder Kumar Uppal, DGP, will retire on 31st May. Three other DGPs Mr. Chatopadhaya, Mr. Rohit Chaudhary, and MK Tiwari retired in during the last two months. Due to this four vacancies of DGP rank are available, which are to be filled in upcoming months.  

Officers expected to be promoted to fill four vacancies of the DGPs are Harpreet Sidhu, ADGP, Dr. Sharad Satya Chauhan, ADGP, Gaurav Yadav, ADGP, and Kuldeep Singh, ADGP. 

All four ADGPs are 1992 batch IPS officers. After their promotion, four vacancies of ADGPs created by them are expected to be fulfilled by Pavan Kumar Rai, who is On Central deputation in New Delhi, Naunihal Singh, IG Personnel, Pb, Arun Pal Singh, IGP-cum-Commissioner of Police, Amritsar and Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal IG. All these IG rank officers are of 1997 batch.


Amritsar and Ludhiana will be having new police Commissioners due to the promotion of Arun Pal Singh and Surinderpal Singh Parmar respectively. At first, these promotions were on hold because of seniority issues.
