
A loud sound was heard in several parts of Bengaluru on Friday, July 2 afternoon and led to multiple tweets. According to tweets, the sound was reported in Sarjapur, Benson Town, Ulsoor,JP Nagar, ISRO layout, HSR layout, South Bengaluru and East Bengaluru.
While the boom was mild in some areas, several residents claimed that their windows rattled due to the impact of loud noise.
The sudden loud boom brought back the memories of a ‘sonic boom’ heard last year in Bengaluru and has people wondering. Sharing the incident, netizens flooded Twitter with questions,memes and theories. One of the tweets read, “Windows rattled after a huge sound...what was it, one more Sonic Boom.”
In May 2020, a mysterious loud bang rattled Bengaluru citizens and rumors spread like a wildfire. Following this, the Indian Air Force quickly disclosed that the sonicboom was caused by an IAF Test Flight with a supersonic profile that took off from the Bengaluru airport.
The tweet by the Defense Ministry read, “The sonic boom was probably heard while the aircraft was decelerating from supersonic to subsonic speed between 36,000 and 40000 feet altitude.”
So far, no official authority of the state- Disaster Management department, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited or Police has reacted in the ‘boom’.
