Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday said that a modern food street hub would be developed in Adarsh Nagar market where Jalandharites will be able to enjoy hygienic street food soon. 

Participating in a video-conference, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal asked the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) to send a detailed project report (DPR) regarding the selected site (Adarsh Nagar) within a week so that the same can be forwarded to the higher authorities. 

He said that a clean, ventilated, non-polluted environment would be ensured to the food lovers in this new hub. He said that 
Sarangal said that the common facilities like clean water, parking, lighting, sanitation and waste disposal system would be ensured here besides proper training will be provided to the vendors, helpers about basic food hygiene practices. 

The training regarding the hygiene practices will be given to them by the appropriate authorities. They will also be given assistance regarding in availing licensing and registration from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). 

The Deputy Commissioner said that street food was an important part of the food culture here and gives a chance to the vendors to showcase their skills and creativity. He said that the street food hub would improve the hygiene conditions not only during the food preparation but how food served to the consumers. 

He also expressed hope that the initiative will help to build the trust among consumers to have a healthy and safe local eating experience. He said that most of the people avoid the roadside eateries due to unhygienic conditions but this hub will make the local food popular.
