Two days after submitting resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, seeking premature retirement from service, IPS Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh on Friday morning met Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore for the same.

Kunwar Vijay Pratap was heading the Special Investigation Teams (SITs) probing the Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases. However, on April 9, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had quashed the investigation carried out by the state in the Kotkapura firing case.

The High Court even directed the state to reconstitute the special investigation team without Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, after which Kunwar Pratap submitted his resignation to Punjab CM Captain Amarinder which was rejected by him saying that the state needs services of the highly competent and efficient officer, especially at a time when Punjab was faced with various internal and external security threats.

In a related development, IG Kunwar Vijay Partap today met Governor VP Singh Badnore, and gave the statement that the meeting was “routine and in his private capacity.”

While when questioned on his resignation, he said that he will not change his decision of resigning, and has convinced Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for the same.

Meanwhile, the decision of IG Vijay Pratap Singh hasn’t gone down well with the ruling Congress Government and many political leaders who feels that the IG’s retirement over the SIT probe would bring a bad name to the party and would affect the party’s credibility in the upcoming assembly elections.

Besides, speculations are being made on the future actions of IG Vijay Pratap Singh. Sources inform that one must not feel shock if IG Pratap in future becomes active in politics and join some political party.

IG Pratap meanwhile in his facebook post on Tuesday said, I did my part ...... No regret .....I request everybody not to glamourise or politicise the issue....

Each and every sentence of my Report and Chargesheet is evidence in itself....It cannot be negated in any manner....Guilty mind cannot dare to face the mirror of truth....I have filed the appeal in the Court of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji for final verdict; the most superior Court  as per my wisdom and knowledge of Law.

“I will continue to serve the society in the best possible manner, however, NOT in the IPS”, he said on his social media post.
