The sector 2-based Rajindra Park in Chandigarh where the bomb was found yesterday near the close proximity of high-profile official residences of CMs of Punjab and Haryana, has been taken under Army’s remand after initiating a robotics investigation into it.
Initially, it was decided that the bomb will be diffused at the sight where it was spotted, later the officers decided not to go with the plan citing the technical aspects, and took it along with them to their Chandimandir-based unit.
This live bomb was found on Monday afternoon. After which the army team was called. Army's Chandi Mandir-based Western Command's 2 Colonel led the entire operation.
Based on reports the decision not to diffuse the bomb where it was found was taken in the matter of light that area is in the close bay of the official residences of Punjab and Haryana’s CMs.
A helipad where choppers of the CMs of Punjab and Haryana are stationed is at some distance from the place where this live bomb was found. The discovery of the bomb prompted swift action from the Chandigarh police and administration to take control of the matter alongside special designated teams from Punjab and Haryana Police also reached the spot.

Reports citing experts say that the live bombshell can explode if it is intended to destroy it by striking, similar cases have surfaced in the past as well prompting the police team to take all precautionary measures.
According to experts, if it is a live bomb, it can explode in the event of a strike. In the past also such examples have come to the fore, when such a bomb bought in junk was hit with a hammer or other heavy object to break it, it exploded. Because of this, the police teams are taking full precautions.
Police ensured maximum precaution since it was a live bombshell, police kept that inside a fiber drum, and placed sandbags around to mitigate the impact in case the bomb goes off. Experts associated with the matter believe that the bomb is capable of destroying the surrounding area to the maximum reach of 100 meters falling in its radius.
