Continuing with its battle against spam, Airtel today launched a new high-tech solution that will identify and block harmful websites on all communications Over-The-Top (OTT) apps and platforms, such as emails, browsers, OTTs like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and SMSes in real time. This secure service will be integrated seamlessly with, and auto-enabled for, all Airtel mobile and broadband users free of cost. When a customer attempts to visit a website identified as malicious by Airtel's sophisticated security system, page load is prevented, and customers are redirected to a page that states the reason for the blockage.
The danger of internet fraud increases day by day due to digital channels becoming more and more pervasive throughout the nation and threatening consumers. There is a scary rise in such threats in recent days. Such fraud schemes have come far beyond simple OTP scams and trap calls, and according to recent accounts, millions of people have become victims of online malicious scams.
Realizing the seriousness of the case, Airtel has launched an AI-driven, multi-layered intelligence platform, intending to protect customers from the entire gamut of scams and fraud. It plans to achieve this by launching a cutting-edge threat detection platform that will carry out domain filtering across every platform and block the link across devices.
Referring to the initiative, Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, believes that in the last few years, we have encountered many occasions where innocent customers have been cheated out of their hard-earned cash. The engineers have attempted to address this issue through the introduction of our Fraud Detection Solution. In his opinion, the customers should get complete peace of mind when surfing the internet without the fear of getting defrauded. The AI-driven utility looks through internet traffic, queries against international repositories, and our database of threat actors in real-time and blocks scam sites. He asserted that the product has already achieved a stunning rate of precision in the 6-month trials.
He assured that the entire Airtel team will be working tirelessly until the networks are free from spam and scams.
