All you need to know about Punjabi singer Diljaan

In the wee hours of March 30 Punjabi singer Diljaan lost his life in a road mishap while on his journey from Amritsar to Kartarpur.

As reported, Diljaan was driving alone when he lost balance and the car hit a parked truck on the roadside. The Punjabi music industry had just faced a great loss with the sad demise of Sardool Sikander and now this.

Diljaan came into public eyes by participating in the Punjabi music reality show 'Awaaz Punjab Di'. Later in 2012, he also participated in a Hindi music reality show 'Sur Kshetra'. His voice was so appreciated by the judges and fans that he came out as a runner up of Sur Kshetra. One of his performances in this show made Asha Bhonsle, one of the jury members cry. She expressed how touching his performance was and what a gem he is to the music world. 


Who was Diljaan?

The singer belongs to a middle-class Sikh family of Kartarpur, Punjab. He completed his schooling at DAV High School in his hometown Kartarpur. He got his Bachelor's degree from DAV College, Jalandhar. Talking about his singing passion, he was trained by his father Madan Madar. His father was a great disciple of Ustaad Puran Shahkoti Sahib, father of Master Salim. From the very beginning, his life goal was to make fame in the music industry and to devote himself to music. His name was on the peak after he participated in a Hindi music reality show ‘Sur Kshetra’, where singers from Pakistan also participated. Among the Indian participants, he was the rising star and came out as a runner-up of the show.


Work till now?

Starting at a very young age Diljaan has given notable work to the Punjabi music industry. Some of his tracks that gained enormous support were; Shoon Karke, Black Pranda, Mera Dil, Rattan, Yarran Di Gal, and Guru Sikh. In fact, his latest project ‘Tere Wargey 2’ was planned to be released on April 2. All excited about the new one he was busy in promotions but little did he know what destiny had planned for him.

Paying respects to the late actor Punjab CM Capt. Amrinder Singh wrote a heartfelt message, “ shocked at the tragic death of young and promising Punjabi singer Diljaan in a road accident earlier today. It is extremely sad to lose young lives like these on road. My condolences to the family, friends and fans. RIP!”
