After reports of violence incidents in some parts of thePunjab on Feb 14 during civic polls, the State Election Commission, and Punjab(SEC) today ordered to conduct repoll in 3 polling booths of Municipal CouncilPatran and Samana of Patiala District. Repolling would be held on February 16,2021.
Apprising this here today, an official spokesperson ofSEC said that the Commission has received reports from Returning Officers (RO)Patran that some miscreants allegedly damaged the EVM in polling booth no. 11of ward no. 8. Similarly, Commission had also got reports from RO Samana thatunknown persons allegedly damaged EVM in polling booth no. 22 and 23 of wardno. 11.
Spokesperson further said that taking serious note ofthese incidents, the Commission has announced nullify the earlier pollingconducted in these booths and ordered to re-poll under Section 59 (2)(A) ofPunjab State Election Commission Act, 1994.
Spokesperson further said that re-poll in these 3 boothswill be held on February 16, 2021 from 08.00 am to 04.00 pm and counting willtake place on February 17, 2021.
