In a massive crackdown on 'anti-national activities', Punjab Police on Saturday arrested Waris Punjab De Chief & pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh. Reportedly, Amritpal Singh's arrest came 23 days after he and his supporters got involved in a violent clash against the Punjab Police in Ajnala. Amritpal Singh's arrest was not less than a film as approx 100 cops car chased down the Waris Punjab De Chief. As per reports, Police officials stopped the convoy of the Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh when he was travelling from Jalandhar to Moga and arrested six of his close associates. However, during that Amritpal Singh managed to flee the site which forced the Police to launch a massive search operation. With Amritpal Singh arrested, below is his timeline on how he raised from a common man to a staunch Khalistan leader & preacher-

September 29, 2022

On September 29, 2022, Khalistani-supporter, 29-year-old Amritpal Singh became the President of 'Waris Punjab De'- an organization founded by late Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu that aimed to protect the rights of Punjab and raise social issues. Notably, Deep Sidhu who was also one of the accused in the 2021 Republic Day riots, died in a road accident on 15th February 2022. Interestingly, reports suggest that Deep Sidhu's family has distanced itself from the new president Amritpal Singh who is known for openly endorsing Khalistan and slain Khalistani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Amritpal Singh took charge as the President of the 'Waris Punjab De' organization in a ‘Dastaarbandi’ ceremony held at Moga’s Rode which happens to be the native village of the slain Bhindranwale.

February 17, 2023

Lovepreet Singh aka Toofan, 29, was arrested by police on February 17 on charges of kidnapping and assault on a Chamkaur Sahib-based resident Varinder Singh. His arrest had triggered off the violent clash that took place between supporters of Amritpal Singh and police at Ajnala police station.

February 23, 2023 in the morning

After Toofan's arrest, Amritpal Singh announced that he will conduct a march from his village to Ajnala police station to mark the protest against the registration of an FIR against him and his associates and demanding the release of his aide, who was apprehended by the police.

February 23, 2023

In wake of the announcement made by Amritpal Singh, over 500 policemen were deployed to hold back the marching protestors and layers of barricades were laid on the way. On February 23, at around 1.45 pm, the crowd with swords and sticks began approaching and suddenly turned violent. They broke all the layers of barricades put on to block the roads with their vehicles and marched towards the Ajnala police station. Another layer of barricade was laid ahead of Ajnala police station, where the crowd allegedly became violent and started attacking the police deployed there with swords, sticks and also pelted stones at them. They broke the layer of barricades and went on to capture the police station.

During the attack, which went on to around 6 hours, several policemen received serious injuries, who were taken to hospitals. During the rampage the Punjab Police looked helpless and appeared to be at back foot. Following the hours of standoff and conquest at the police station, the Punjab Police were forced to strike a deal with Amritpal Singh and agreed to release his aide Lovepreet Toofan on February 24.

February 24, 2023

Punjab's internet services suspended as Police launch action against Amritpal Singh

Lovepreet Singh came out of Amritsar Central Jail while raising slogans of ‘Raj Karega Khalsa’ and ‘Amritpal Singh Jindabad’. His family had claimed that Lovepreet Singh was at the hospital with his wife on February 15, the day the alleged crime was committed in which he was nominated.

March 7, 2023

Punjab Police has taken a strict action against Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh’s associates. Although police have not officially stated it but there is information that the arms licenses of 9 associates of Amritpal Singh have been cancelled. Reportedly, to make sure that no such clash like the Ajnala Police Station takes place in future, Punjab Police decided to take a stern action. They cancelled arms licenses of Waris Punjab De Chief’s close associates namely Harjit Singh Amritsar, Baljinder Singh Amritsar, Ram Singh Brar Kotkapura, Gurmat Singh Moga, Avtar Singh Sangrur, Varinder Singh Tarn Taran, Harpreet Devgan Patiala, Amritpal Singh Tarn Taran and Gurbej Singh. The license of Talwinder Singh from Tarn Taran has also been sent to Jammu and Kashmir for review as it was made there.

March 18, 2023- The D Day

Punjab police detained 6 close aids of Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh while he was on his way to Shahkot. The police departments of eight districts of Punjab carried out a joint operation to nab the pro-Khalistani radical leader and his supporters. The officials stopped the convoy of the Waris Punjab De chief when he was travelling from Jalandhar to Moga and arrested six of his close associates. While Amritpal Singh managed to flee the site.

March 18, 2023

Internet services were scrapped in Punjab as the 100 cars of cops were in pursuit of Amritpal Singh who was fleeing arrest. Punjab's Home Secretary Anurag Verma confirmed the internet suspension of Punjab. As per the official order shared by State's Home Secretary, Punjab's internet suspension decision has been taken in the backdrop to stop spreading of inflammatory material and false rumours, to provoke mobilization of mobs of agitators and demonstrators, mobilize their own manpower and resources for their anti-national activities.

March 18, 2023, Evening

True Scoop News got confirmation that Amritpal Singh has been arrested by the Punjab Police in a joint operation of 8 district cops. The charges are yet to be revealed.

No official has confirmed Waris Punjab De chief’s arrest yet.
