Amritpal Singh's aide Lovepreet to be released after Waris Punjab De supporters' anarchy in Ajnala

It was utter chaos in Amritsar's Ajnala after Pro-Khalistan leader and Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh launched a protest along with his hundreds of supporters against Punjab Police on Thursday. Amritpal Singh's supporters on Thursday stormed into Ajnala Police Station and were involved in a violent clash with the Police leaving personnel injured including an SP. Amritpal Singh had announced to protest outside Ajnala Police Station as it had arrested his close aide Lovepreet Singh Toofan from his home in a kidnapping case. A case was also registered against Amritpal and his members for kidnapping and assaulting a person. However, what raised everyone's eyebrows when the Punjab Police acceded to Amritpal Singh's demands and agreed to release Toofan after the violent clash.

The police cleared off the protesters from the Ajnala police station premises after they were assured of Lovepreet Toofan's release. According to reports, the protesters were sent to a nearby gurdwara. In a statement, Satinder Singh, SSP Amritsar Dehat said Toofan Singh's supporters have provided evidence supporting Singh's absence from the violence-hit area on February 15, on the basis of which, he would be discharged by the court tomorrow. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh and his supporters have said they would end their agitation once Toofan Singh steps out of the jail. For the unversed, Amritpal Singh has demanded the cancellation of the FIR which has been filed against him and his group members. "If they don't cancel the case in one hour, the admin will be responsible for whatever happens next...they think we can't do anything, so this show of strength was necessary," he told the media.

The Punjab Police has filed a discharge application in the Ajanala court on Friday. As per reports, The police filed an application in the court to discharge Amritpal's close aide Lovepreet Toofan from the case. As a result, an order for the release of Lovepreet Toofan has been issued from the court. Now, the court order has been handed over to Lovepreet's family. Reportedly, Lovepreet is expected to come out of Amritsar jail by evening, today. Amritpal's supporters are expected to gather in large numbers once again after Lovepreet's release. Notably, Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh reportedly remained in Ajnala for the whole night. He spent the night at Baba Deep Singh Gurdwara Sahib and said that he would take Toofan with him. It is pertinent to mention here that tensions are still prevailing in Ajnala. An additional police force has been deployed since Friday morning to control the situation in Ajnala. SSP Rural Satinder Singh is himself is present inside the police station, suggest reports.
