Amritsar's bustling Hall Bazaar was the site of a ghastly daylight robbery and killing on Monday, sending the local trading community into mourning and fear. Two unidentified men murdered a shop owner and seriously injured his son in the Trimurti Complex around noon before making away with Rs 12 lakh in cash. Witnesses and police sources attest that the assailants broke into the shop run by Kuldeep Kumar and his son Dinesh Kumar on the pretext that they were exchanging damaged old currency notes, a service the father-son duo had been rendering for years. Reports say the accused had placed a call earlier in the morning asking for new notes worth between Rs 10 and Rs 12 lakh. Once they entered, the robbers used a toothpick-sharp object to inflict a sudden, brutal attack while the victims began to count the money.
According to reports, his son Dinesh was critically injured, and Kuldeep Kumar died from a neck injury. Before they could do anything, the robbers swiftly stole the money and ran away.
The police swiftly arrived at the incident place after being notified by passing store owners. Senior officers are looking through local CCTV footage and have launched a manhunt to find the criminals.
Dinesh Kumar was injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains critical. The incident has shocked the local business community, and traders are demanding immediate action and increased security in the area. Authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to apprehend and prosecute the criminals.
