
A 40-year-old farmer, resident of Fatehgarh Sahib inPunjab, Amarinder Singh, today reportedly committed suicide after consumingpoison at the Singhu border, the site of the ongoing farmers' agitation.
He was rushed to a hospital in Haryana's Sonepat around7:30 pm, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
As per reports, the Haryana Police was immediately intimatedabout the incident and they started an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, scores of farmers from different states of thecountry have been protesting at Delhi's borders for more than 35 days nowdemanding the repeal of the three farm laws, recently introduced by thegovernment. As many as eight rounds of talks between farmers' unions and thecentral government have failed to end the deadlock.
Besides, over 50 deaths have been reported from theprotest site in the last two months.
