On Monday when everyone was busy watching the biggest award night of the entertainment industry someone was busy sleeping. Well, it was Anthony Hopkins who in a deep sleep when Joaquin Phoenix announced the Oscar award for the best actor in a leading role category for the film ‘the father’. Jeremy Barber the 83-year-old actor’s long-time agent revealed this to People magazine. He also shared Hopkin’s sweet gesture upon receiving the award and creating history.

Jeremy said, “Tony was in wales, where he grew up and he was asleep at 4 in the morning when I woke him up to tell him the news. He was so happy and so grateful”. Talking about Anthony Hopkins win, the moment was a historical one. Anthony is officially the oldest celebrity who not just was nominated but also has won an academy award for Best Actor. Hopkins has beaten Steven Yeun for Minari, Riz Ahmed for Sound of metal, Gary Oldman for Mank, and even the late actor Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Meanwhile talking about Hopkin’s other glorious Oscar history, the father actor has won two academy awards in total which includes the best actor Oscar for his inimitable performance for the role of famous serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter in ‘the silence of the lambs’. Anthony was also nominated in the best actor category at the Oscars for ‘the remains of the day and Nixon while owning other two 93rd academy award nominations in the supporting actor role category for Amistad and the two popes.
