Antilla bomb case: NIA seizes Mercedes driven by Sachin Vaze, note counting machine

NIA has recovered a number plate of the Scorpio car, more than Rs 5 lakhs in cash, a note counting machine and some clothes.

Moving ahead in the SUV case probe, the National Investigation Agency on Tuesday evening seized a black colour Mercedes Benz which it said was used by arrested Mumbai police official Sachin Vaze.

Inspector General, NIA, Anil Shukla said the agency also recovered the number plate of the stolen SUV Scorpio, which was parked outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house Antilia in Mumbai with 20 gelatin sticks and a threat note.

Giving out details on the matter, NIA IG Anil Shukla said, "Sachin Vaze used to drive this car but who it belongs to is being investigated." 

The National Investigation Agency is searching for the car allegedly used by Mansukh Hiren on February 17.

Besides the Mercedes, the NIA also seized Rs 5 lakh cash, a currency note counting machine and some clothes.

Shukla added that Vaze used to drive this car and the ownership of the high-end vehicle is being ascertained.

Hiren’s car that contained explosives was discovered outside Ambani’s house and was found dead in a creek on march 5 in Thane.  

Mumbai police officer Sachin Vaze was suspended from the service after arrest by NIA in the probe into the recovery of an explosives-laden car parked near Mukesh Ambani's house in the city.
