Antilla Bomb Scare: Ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh appears before probe agency NIA

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Wednesday deposed before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for the first time in connection with the explosive-laden SUV outside Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani's residence and the mysterious death of businessman Manuskh Hiren. 

Mr Singh arrived at the NIA office in south Mumbai in a car around 9.30 am today morning. He directly went inside the anti-terror probe agency office. He will be questioned in connection with the explosive-laden SUV found outside Antilia on February 25 this year and his statement will be recorded, an NIA source said. 

Last month, Singh was removed from the Mumbai police chief’s post to Director-General of the Home Guards. The decision was taken after an SUV car with gelatin explosives was found near Ambani’s house on February 25 and the subsequent murder of Thane businessman Manuskh Hiran.

The NIA had already arrested several people, including suspended Crime Branch police officer Sachin Vaze. Earlier, the agency had seized several high-end vehicles used by Vaze and also recovered several items from a river here. Police constable Vinayak Shinde and cricket bookie Naresh Gor about the murder of Mansukh Hiran. 

Hiren was the owner of the SUV car that was found outside Ambani’s house and his body was found in the Mumbra creek in neighbouring Thane on March 5.
