Director James Wan is planning to return to the ocean's depths and have some fun with his buddy Arthur Curry. On Thursday, the director revealed the title of Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on social media platform. The news was later confirmed by Warner Bros.

Wan has been working on the picture for quite some time, and his post makes it appear that production is nearing completion. Aside from what we may deduce from where the first film left off, not much is known about the narrative.

After defeating his brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) in the first film, Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Aquaman, Arthur Curry, who is now the true King of Atlantis. Mera will, of course, accompany him (Amber Heard). Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) was teased in the previous film's end credits scene, although this has yet to be verified. Dolph Lundgren, who plays the Xebellian people's King Nereus, has also stated that he will return. And, strangely enough, it's the last part that
's crucial.

Aquaman had a poster that said, "Unite the Seven," a long time ago. The seven kingdoms of Atlantis: Trench, Brine, Xebellian, the Fisherman kingdom, the Atlanteans, the Deserters, and a long-lost kingdom were misinterpreted by fans as seven members of the Justice League. That's right, the "Lost Kingdom."

Even more than the first picture, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom appears to be about Arthur wanting to unite all of the ocean kingdoms while also learning more about why this one kingdom was lost.

You can also expect to hear something about something else going on in the DC Universe. We have no idea what this signifies after Zack Snyder's Justice League. Shazam, on the other hand, is out there. By the time this picture is released, Black Adam will have joined them. Who knows? There's also The Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman.

Director James Wan is aware of the situation. And on December 16, 2022, he'll release Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in theatres.
