Despite the fact that no more than 20 people are allowedto attend wedding function in the state, the covid norms are being flouted withimpunity in Punjab and that too by none other than the elected representatives.
Recently, a video has gone viral on the social mediasites in which Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal could beseen dancing and enjoying a wedding function in Phagwara while giving two hootsto covid norms.
In the video, it was evident that more than 20 people arepresent at the wedding function and none was seen wearing mask or maintainingsocial distancing. It is learnt that the wedding function was of the Phagwara’sex-councillor Davinder Sapra’s daughter and many local leaders and among otherguests were invited.
Though the organizers have claimed that it was a familyfunction with limited gathering and all covid19 norms were duly followed, however, the video shows acomplete different picture.
Besides, the video has also drawn criticism from the commonpeople who termed it blatant misuse of political power. They demanded strictagainst the MLA and sought the intervention of CM Captain Amarinder Singh.
Also, it is pertinent to mention that Punjab Police on daily basis have been issuing challans to the violators of covid guidelines but when it comes to political leaders, hardly any action is taken.
Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts Congress MLA BalwinderSingh Dhaliwal could not be contacted.
However, in conversation with True Scoop News, KapurthalaDeputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal said that she hasn’t received any complaint inthe matter so far.
