A vegetable vendor was robbed of a significant amount of money at gunpoint in his own house in Jalandhar this early morning. The robbers held his family hostage at his house in New Rasila Nagar, which included his 7-year-old son and his wife. The robbers fled the house after looting about Rs 12 lakh in cash and Rs 15 lakh worth of jewellery. As soon as information about the incident was received, Police Station-1 reached the spot for investigation.

 

The incident took place in street number-3 of New Rasila Nagar, adjacent to Sheetal Nagar of Maqsuda. However, why the vendor had kept this amount of money in his home is not yet known. Vegetable businessman Ranjin told the police that he was present in the house with his family when masked robbers entered his house early Monday morning. As soon as the accused arrived, they took the entire family hostage at gunpoint. The robbers took about 30 minutes executing the robbery after which they fled with Rs 12 lakhs in cash and Rs 15 lakh worth of jewellery. The police are investigating currently.
