Ensuring that not an inch of India’s territory is with China, on Thursday, Army Chief General MM Naravane in an interview with Times Now said that notwithstanding the end of the standoff along with the Pangong Tso, there are certain areas exist, which will have to be negotiated with China.

"We want a secure environment if we want to prosper as a nation. Indian Army is for Indians and we will never let you down," Naravane said. He also added that he hopes China will abide by the clauses that guide the agreement between the two nations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He further said that the ceasefire deal between Indian and Pakistan is a positive development and will add to growth.

"Not even a single shot was fired along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, barring one incident. This has been unprecedented in the last 5-6 years —this in its own way will contribute to growth in its own way," he added.

Speaking on the terror infrastructure within Pakistan, the Army Chief said that the threat of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) still hovers over Pakistan's as a result of which Islamabad is making efforts to show that they are making some attempts towards not supporting terrorism.

However, he asserted that despite the ceasefire agreement, terror infra still exists intact across the border.

Commenting on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, since revoking of Article 370 and in light of the recent ceasefire pact struck between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan, Naravane said there has been changing in the condition in Kashmir and the valley will soon return to normalcy. "We do not have any deradicalization camps in the Kashmir valley. We have a number of programmes to win the youth away from the gun culture," he added.
