Aam Aadmi Party supremo andDelhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has scheduled his visit to Punjab on June 21ahead of state Assembly Elections 2022.
This visit of Kejriwal, hintson expanding AAP’s footprint in the state by adding a few prominent opposition party leaders in his nine-year-old outfit.
There are speculationsthat former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap may join Aam Aadmi Party tomorrow in thepresence of CM Kejriwal in Amritsar. His induction into party means that formerIG could either emerge as Punjab CM or Deputy CM candidate in the upcomingAssembly Elections 2022.
However along with him, other prominent leaders’ names have also emerged. It has been learnt from thesources that BJP national convener Laxmi Kanta Chawla, who was former Cabinetminister and held health portfolio is expected to join AAP in the presence ofparty chief.
Notably, the rationalebehind the joining of BJP leaders is anticipated to be ‘Kisan Morcha’ as BJPhas failed to address the farmers’ grievances and their demand to roll back thecontentiously passed three farm laws in 2020.
Apart from this, a ShiromaniAkali Dal leader who is a closer aide to Badal’s is also likely to join theDelhi CM led- AAP on June 21.
With the elections roundthe corner in the state, Arvind Kejriwal does not want to leave any stoneunturned to step into the political circle of Punjab as he believes the staterequires change from the conventional parties’ reign.
If these new faces willenter the AAP, then the probability will be high of other leaders to abandon theirrespective parties to bring a transformation in Punjab. Also for the upcomingelections, likewise Congress and SAD, AAP’s play card is targeted at theHindu-Sikh vote bank.
However, now, it will beevident to see if former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap along with other prominentleaders of BJP and SAD will hold a ‘Jhadu’ of AAP in their hands or not.
