Free oxygen outside Sikh temples as covid crisis deteriorates in India

The second wave of coronavirus is creating mayhem in the country. Amid crisis, a video of people of the Sikh community providing oxygen cylinders in cars has gone viral. The video is from the national capital Delhi, which is one of the worst suffering areas.

India is facing a shortage of oxygen supply, hospital beds, and other medical facilities. Amid the scarcity of medical supplies, patients continue to struggle for every single breath. Following no availability of beds in hospitals and lack of oxygen cylinders, Sikh communities took an initiative and started providing oxygen cylinders in cars in various parts of the country.

The religious community is continuously serving the nation and humanity as well by setting up camps and oxygen langars outside gurudwaras and streets. Recently, Khalsa Aid which is an International NGO has also stepped forward and provided India with oxygen concentrators. The manager of the NGO said that Delhi will be given priority as it is hit worst.

The founder of Khalsa Help International, Rummy said, “People are dying on the streets. That’s why we started this.”

Ironically, a few days back people of the same community were labeled terrorists for protesting against the Government. One of the largest protests, Farmer’s protest was marked as the gathering of Khalistani and anti-nationals. Now when India is on the verge of destruction, Sikhs from all over the country and world have taken the charge of the situation and are giving the gift of life.

Delhi has reported over 24,000 new cases in the last 24 hours with 395 fatalities. Meanwhile, the country has lodged 386,452 fresh covid cases in the last 24 hours and around 3,498 patients lost their lives to coronavirus.
