Assam EVM controversy: Congress leader Sushmita Dev says, ‘People are with us, BJP is perturbed’

Sushmita accused BJP of conducting illegal practices in the election. She said, “All BJP candidates are resorting to illegal means.”

Congress leaders and workers have staged a protest in Guwahati. The agitation occurred after an EVM was found transported in the car of Bhartiya Janata Party’s candidate Krishnendu Paul. The congress workers are protesting against Pal in Guwahati, amid the Assam EVM issue.

On Friday, an EVM was found in a car belonging to Krishendu Paul, who is the candidate of BJP in the Karimganj district. After the incident, Congress workers are seen been protesting in Guwahati on Saturday. Congress leader, Sushmita Dev is leading the protest against the BJP candidate. Expressing her concern, Sushmita accused BJP of conducting illegal practices in the election. She said, “All BJP candidates are resorting to illegal means.”

Congress leader Sushmita claimed the common people are with Congress and that’s the reason for BJP’s corruption in the elections. She said, “People are with us, BJP is perturbed.” The member of Congress party questioned EC regarding the actions taken in the issue. “What action did Election Commission take against Krishnendu Pal, in whose vehicle EVM was found?” Congress is now demanding the disqualification of BJP candidate Krishnendu Pal.

The Election Commission of India has taken action related to the matter. EC had suspended four polling officials who were deputed in Karimganjh. They were found transporting the EVM in Paul’s vehicle.

BJP candidate Krishnendu Paul has denied his involvement in the matter. The candidate also admitted that what happened is not right. An FIR is likely to be filed in the case. There will be re-polling in the booth, as per the orders of the poll panel.
