We all are aware that Singer Neha Kakkar who is currently seen as one of the judges of the singing reality show Indian Idol 12, had begun her journey with the same show. She was a participant in the second season but was eliminated early. After struggling for several years, she gained popularity and rose to fame with her song, Second Hand Jawaani, from Cocktail.
Back then the show was judged by Anu Malik, Sonu Nigam and Farah Khan Kunder. A video of Neha’s Indian Idol audition is doing rounds on the internet. The clip is from Indian Idol auditions - Piano Round, where Anu Malik went furious over Neha’s performance. She sang the song Aisa Lagta Hai from Refugee, which was originally sung by Sonu, but failed to impress. The music for the song is composed by Anu. Neha sings the song with her partner and in the end, Malik said, “Neha Kakkar... Teri awaaz sun kar lagta hai main apne mooh par maaroon thappad, yaar! Kya ho gaya hai tere ko (I feel like slapping myself after hearing you sing. What happened to you)?” and Neha looks shocked.

Talking about Indian Idol and judging it, Neha earlier in an interview said, "Indian Idol has been very special to me and I respect the show wholeheartedly. I will not do any other reality show other than Indian Idol. The show and the people have worked so hard that makes it epic. It's a cult show in the history of reality shows."

Currently, Neha is co-judging Indian Idol 12, alongside singer-composers Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya.
Kakkar is one of the highest-paid singers in Bollywood with smash hits like Kaala Chashma, Dilbar, Aankh Marey and O Saki Saki, to her credit. She is also popular on social media, with 55 million followers on Instagram.
