Online and mobile banking services will be available on national holidays, unless users receive notifications about temporary problems. If you run out of cash and need some, ATMs are available. UPI and the app operate normally as well.

The RBI releases the bank’s holiday calendar each year according to the Negotiable Instruments Act which governs cheques and promissory notes. During the holidays listed above, these instruments cannot be traded.

Boards of the RBI and state governments work together to designate holidays for banks by considering occasions from around the country, their operations and various religious and cultural events. Banks and other financial institutions get notice of changes from the central bank on its website and through official notifications.
