

The Samyukt KisanMorcha (SKM), the umbrella body of over 40 farm unions leading the farmers'agitation against the Centre's three farm laws, has called for nationwidestrike — Bharat Bandh — on 27 September, the day their ongoing protestcompletes 10 months.
The police haveframed an alternative route map for those using the highways to reach theirrespective destinations.
While nearly a 100traffic police personnel will remain deployed on highways and other roads forthe safe passage of commuters.
Naresh Dogra, DCPTraffic said, “The traffic police are on its toes to assist commuters on thebandh day. The traffic coming from Amritsar will be diverted towards Hoshiarpurto join the NH1 route; those coming from Ludhiana will be diverted towards theCantt Road to enter the city and people heading to Hoshiarpur would be divertedvia Chuggitti. Similarly other routes have also been chalked out.”

While Punjab ChiefMinister Charanjit Singh Channi has supported the bandh, Leader of Oppositionin Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has announced that he will participate in thenationwide strike.
The Bharat Bandh willbe organised in 10 different sites in the district. Apart from road, railtraffic will also remain affected on Monday between 6am and 4pm. Meanwhile,most of the schools, colleges and other private institutions have alsoannounced work from home on bandh day.
However, allemergency establishments and essential services, including hospitals, medicalstores, relief and rescue work and people attending to personal emergencieswill be exempted. The bandh will be enforced in a voluntary and peacefulmanner, the SKM has assured.
