Breaking all records made by former President Barack Obama, Democratic candidate Joe Biden has won more votes than any other presidential candidate in the history of the United States.

Biden had got over 70.7 million votes, by November 4 which is more than the number any candidate who has ever contested for the presidential elections has received.

This count includes 300,000 more votes than what Obama got in 2008, which was the previous record and no candidate has ever touched it. Biden has surpassed the popular vote record of 69,498,516 established by Obama in 2008.

In a close electoral vote contest to win the race for the White House against tough opponent President Donald Trump, Biden is 2.7 million votes ahead of the Republican leader in the popular vote. As the counting picks speed in important battleground states, Biden is progressing in numbers.

Joe Biden has won the most vital battleground state of Michigan and Wisconsin with flying colours. He has reclaimed a key part of the “blue wall" which the Democrats had lost four years ago.

Millions of votes are still being recorded across the country, which includes in California, where 64 per cent of the votes have been counted.

As of Wednesday, Trump was also nearing Obama’s record with 67.32 million votes. Given that over 100 million votes were received through early voting and mail-in ballots,

According to reports, there were at least 23 million votes still to be counted which could further boost the possibilities of increasing Biden’s vote tally.
