Ghazipur-Border Farmer-Leader-Rakesh-Tikait Farmers-Protest

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday evening has ordered police to remove the protesting farmers who have been camping around the Delhi borders against the farm laws after they received huge backlash over the tractor rally violence.

Heavy security force was deployed at Ghazipur border.

Some 300 CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) personnel, six companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary and 1,000 police personnel arrived at the border.

As police tried to drive the farmers out, the Bharatiya Kisan Union's Rakesh Tikait took to the stage and said they will not yield. He appealed to farmers to not leave and declared that he is "ready to face bullets" if needed.

Tikait broke into tears and said that farmers have been cheated and the government is betraying the farmers; the protest will continue and also demanded a judicial enquiry on the Red Fort event. He blamed BJP supporters for thrashing the farmers.

"The Supreme Court has justified the peaceful sit-in. There has been no violence on the Ghazipur border. Despite this, the government is adopting a repressive policy. It is the face of the Uttar Pradesh government," Mr Tikait said.

Tikait further said that the Republic Day violence was a conspiracy to defame the farmers ' movement and accused the government of trying to break their peaceful protest.
