Jennie Kim is a South Korean singer and songwriter under YG Entertainment’s popular girl group BLACKPINK. She recently made her acting debut as Dyanne in HBO’s Original ‘The Idol’. ‘The Idol’ is a drama series that stars many popular actors such as Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, The Weeknd, Troye Sivan, and Jennie Kim among many others. The first episode came out on 4th June 2023 and it did not go well. As a new episode of the show recently aired, Jennie’s fans are left divided. As many liked to see how tables turn when the K-Pop star’s character shows its true colours, others are disgusted with her and The Weeknd’s dialogues. The netizens have been unhappy with the series’ sexual scenes and poor scripting.

Jennie plays the role of Dyanne, who is a backup dancer for Jocelyn (Lily Rose Depp). In the show, Jennie also displayed her vocal talent, but the lyrics were unappealing to the audience. People have had mixed reactions to Jennie’s character. While some fans feel that Jennie is an adult who can make up her decision as to what role she wishes to play. However, many fans are absolutely displeased with Jennie’s role. They have called her “Talentless” and even questioned as to what was the need for her to sign such a role and why did YG Entertainment agree to it.

Since the first trailer for The Idol was published, there has been a lot of anticipation about the series. A passionate dancing performance by Jennie caught viewers' attention during the premiere of the programme on June 4. It was revealed that Jennie is actually portraying a negative character in the second episode of the season.

As one of them wrote, "as much as i hate this jennie didn't do bad the script really did it tho," another wrote, "Jennie seems fine to me, it's really the weekend dragging it in addition to the bad script." BLACKPINK's supporters, aka BLINKS, are criticising the show's writers. I don't know, but this seems dull.
