B’luru rape case: NIA files charge-sheet against tik-tok star among 12 other B’deshi

A few months back, police have arrested suspects from the gang that lured women into India for sex trafficking via a social media platform.

On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet with the special NIA court in Bengaluru against 13 Bangladeshi nationals accused in a human trafficking case.

The charge-sheet has been filed against Md Rafikdul Islam Ridoy aka Tik Tok star Hirody Babu, Rafik alias Ashraf Mandal alias Boss Rafi, Sobuj Sheikh, Rakibul Islam, Md Babu Molla, Md Alami Hossein, Md Dalim, Hossain MD Azim, Mohammed Jamal, Enamul Haque Shuzan, Md Ruhul Amin, Riday Islam and Mohammed Milon Biswas. 

Earlier, Dhaka Police have said that at least eleven members of the gang involved in the sex trafficking of women from Bangladesh to its neighboring country India have been arrested. This gang has been using the social media platform TikTok to lure the girls.

The girls were lured to become a model, instead of making them a model, the victims were smuggled into southern India and were forced into sex work, statement released by RAB. 

Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) unit said, “The gang’s alleged ringleader Rafizul Islam Ridoy, whose nickname is TikTok Ridoy, use to lure young girls from TikTok and other social media platforms by promising them to make TikTok models.”

Later, the Ramamurthy Nagar police have submitted as many as 1,019 pages of the charge sheet in a short period of five weeks. Police Commissioner Kamal Panth appreciated the efficiency of the cops and announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward for the culprits. 

Special teams were formed to investigate various angles in the case. After further investigation, the police have taken 12 persons into custody.

The 22-year-old rape survivor was brought to Bengaluru from Kerala has been taken to the Bowring hospital for a medical check-up and will be then taken to the Bypanahalli Police station to record her statement. The victim had stated that she was an illegal migrant from Bangladesh who managed to sneak into India.

She had also revealed that the accused were business partners and she supplied girls for trafficking to them. There was a misunderstanding on financial matters and the accused gang-raped and tortured her.
