Body of Sonam Tiwari, daughter-in-law of Jalandhar plywood businessman, found in Beas river

In a heartbreaking development, the body of Sonam Tiwari, daughter-in-law of renowned Jalandhar-based plywood businessman Naresh Tiwari, was recovered on Monday from the Beas River near Goindwal Sahib. Sonam Tiwari went missing under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. Naresh Tiwari was quoted as saying that the family had just received the information and was en route to Goindwal Sahib. Sonam had been missing since Saturday evening after reportedly visiting Beas for a religious offering.

Naresh Tiwari, who runs Wintek Prelam and Virgo Panel Products, said the family was informed that Sonam slipped during the ritual and was swept away by the strong river currents. A large-scale search operation was launched immediately after her disappearance. 

Naresh Tiwari was quoted as saying, "She had gone to Beas for a puja..We were told that during the immersion, she slipped and fell into the river. Her body was finally found near Goindwal Sahib and we were informed this afternoon.” Sonam, aged around 39, was married to Mandeep (Mikki) Tiwari. After recovery, the body was sent for post-mortem.

Notably, after the disappearance of Sonam Tiwari,  prominent people of Jalandhar met the family members. Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, MLA Bawa Henry, AAP's Jalandhar Central Haka In-charge Nitin Kohli, Gymkhana Club secretary Sandeep Behl, and many other members visited the Tiwari family's residence in Vasant Avenue.
