In a major development, a bomb blast took place on Tuesday morning in a residential area of Amritsar. As per the information received, the blast took place near the Naushera village under the Kambo police station limits in the Amritsar rural district, leaving one person dead. The blast was so severe that the man’s limbs were blown to pieces and his body riddled with shrapnel. He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) (Border Range) Satinder Singh informed the media, saying, "The person who was injured has died. He is a member of a terrorist organisation and he had come to retrieve the explosive consignment...We have received a lot of clues...Further investigation is underway...Babbar Khalsa and ISI is active in Punjab and most likely, he is a member of Babbar Khalsa..."

"The man who was injured in the explosion in the morning is now dead. In whatever cases related to bomb blasts we have investigated in the past, it has been found that they sent pictures to each other of the explosives or grenades so that they can retrieve it from the location. Terror organisation BKI's link might be possible. The man came to receive the explosives, but it exploded at the spot. As soon as he kept the explosive in his hands, it exploded. More information will be shared after the investigation, including the man's identity and which organisation he belonged to. We are still investigating whether it was an IED or a grenade. A special team has been called for investigation.

"Generally, in such cases, another person drops an IED or a grenade at a location, and another person comes to retrieve it. The incident took place around 9:30-10 am. Circumstantial evidence suggests that the deceased was a member of a terror organisation. We have also found many suspicious things in the deceased's pocket that link him to a terrorist organisation," added DIG Border Range Satinder Singh.

As per an eyewitness, "A loud explosion shook the area. When we rushed out, we saw a man writhing in pain with his hands and legs blown off. It was horrifying. There was nothing else at the scene that could’ve caused such damage — it was clearly a bomb."
