Wriddhiman Saha revealed the name of the journalist who has been threatening him in the case of allegedly personal chat with  Wriddhiman Saha, senior wicketkeeper of the Indian cricket team.

On Saturday, March 5, Saha presented his case before the Board of Control for Cricket in India's inquiry committee and named the journalist.

Although Saha did not publicly name the accused journalist even after this, the journalist himself revealed his identity late in the night. Boria Majumdar, a senior journalist from West Bengal who runs YouTube shows himself posted a video on social media and told that Saha has taken his name.

Majumdar also alleged that Saha misrepresented the conversation between them and said that he would send a defamation notice to the Indian wicketkeeper.

Saha had made a tweet on February 19 after his name was dropped from Team India and told that the alleged senior journalist was threatening him. Saha also posted a picture, which was a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat between him and Boria Majumdar.

However, Saha did not take his name in it. In the message written in the screenshot, the journalist had said in a threatening manner that Saha insulted him by not interviewing him. Since then, there was speculation on social media that this senior journalist could be Boria Majumdar, but his name was not confirmed for a long time.

Boria Majumdar accuses Saha

On Saturday, March 5, Saha made his point before the three-member inquiry committee of the board. Then late in the night, Boria Majumdar himself posted a video and told that Saha has taken his name and also presented his explanation.

In his tweet, Majumdar wrote,
“There are always two sides to every story. Wriddhiman Saha has tampered with and tampered with my WhatsApp chat, which has put a dent in my reputation and credibility. I have requested BCCI for a fair investigation. My lawyer is sending a defamation notice to Wriddhiman Saha. May the truth prevail."

What did Majumdar say in his clarification?

Along with this tweet, Boria Majumdar also posted a video of himself for about 9 minutes and presented his explanation. He said that he had not spoken to Saha on 19th Feb, the day when the tweet was made.

He also said that all these things happened on February 10 and February 13, the dates of which Saha had hidden in his screenshot. The journalist Boria told that there was a discussion between him and Saha's manager regarding the interview during the TATA IPL 2022 auction and in this regard, he had sent messages to Saha on the 10th.

Majumdar also informed that when Saha was bought by Gujarat Giants on the second day of the TATA IPL auction, he had spoken to him and asked for an interview. As per Majumdar, Saha had said that he would be ready for the interview after reaching home at 8 pm and he would send him the zoom link.

The journalist claimed that when he called Saha, he did not answer it and did not fulfil his promise to interview. Majumdar said that he had known Saha for a long time and that he had expressed displeasure over not getting a reply, but was not intimidated.

BCCI constituted a 3-member inquiry committee

At the moment, it is not clear whether BCCI has called the journalist to know his side or not. It will be interesting to see whether the board will listen to the Boria or not.

After Saha's revelations, the board had announced an inquiry saying that the BCCI had assured action in the matter of threatening the contracted player. BCCI committee includes of board's vice-chairman Rajiv Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and top council member Baltej Singh.
