However, Bramhastra has been facing a massive boycott call on social media and that has become a worry for the filmmakers. Now, Boycott Bramhastra has become a ground reality as a massive protest erupted against Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on Tuesday during their visit to Ujjain's famous Mahakaleshwar Temple. In fact, Police had to resort to the Lathi charge in order to disperse the crowd gathered outside the temple to protest against Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt over the Shamshera actor's remark on 'Beef' in 2011.

One of the protestors while talking to the media stated that they have gathered to protest against Ranbir Kapoor for his 'Beef' remark.

Following that Ranbir Kapoor's beef comment video also went viral on social media. Notably, in 2011, Ranbir Kapoor in a food show had said that he loves to eat beef. "I am a big beef guy," Ranbir Kapoor had said.

Reportedly, Bajrang Dal members held black flags and placards at the Mahakaleshwar Temple, as a sign of protest against the film. The protest became so huge that Ranbir and Alia were reportedly not allowed to enter the Temple premises and only Ayan got permission to take the deity's blessing.

Bramhastra will be released on September 9 and is expected to break Bollywood's blockbuster hiatus on the box office. Notably, despite Boycott Bramhastra trends and controversy revolving around the starcast, the film has already sold over 1 lakh tickets in advance. Theatre chain PVR took to Twitter and revealed that they’ve already sold over lakh tickets for the film. “Were you Lucky enough to grab your tickets to #Brahmastra? With over 1,00,000 tickets sold so far, the Astraverse is truly set to be an epic fantasy that breaks the barriers of film-making!" they tweeted.
