Amid India-Pakistan tensions, now the issue of Turkey has intensified. Notably, Turkey has supported Pakistan during the recent India-Pakistan border tensions. India had stood for Turkey in 2023 by launching Operation dost when a devastating earthquake strucked Turkey. Punjab has already endured losses amid the aerial attacks by Pakistani drones. Following this, now the fruit vendors in Maqsuda Mandi (Jalandhar) have boycotted Turkish apples in the market.

Brokers claim that Turkey stood with Pakistan in the India-Pakistan war. Because of which now the products imported from Türkiye, like apples, are being resisted. A meeting is also being held in the fruit market about boycotting Turkish apples.

Whereas commission agent Dimpy Sachdeva stated that he doesn't want to make the enemy strong. Turkish apples arrive in 4 to 5 months. Two carts arrive during the scarcity of apples, but one cart of 20 to 25 tons arrives every day. But Kashmir's apple is the king of the market. But since there is a scarcity of Kashmir apples in November, Turkish apples arrive at the markets. In that case, because of the closure of Turkish apple markets, Türkiye's trade will plummet heavily. Other commission agents claimed that we won't sell the enemy's apple in Jalandhar's markets. Selling Turkish apples won't benefit India.

The agent disclosed that there is a huge arrival of apples from Jammu and Kashmir. Turkish apple is being sold to only chosen brokers, but now it is being boycotted altogether. The country's enemy is our enemy. Even if Turkish apples don't reach the market, there will not be significant effects on the rates, but the trade of Türkiye will certainly be impacted. Brokers reported that apples are being traded in the market at Rs 110 to 120 per kg. The season is continuing, and the rate is also expected to stay constant at this location. When the war began, it looked like the flow of apples from Jammu and Kashmir would also come to an end. If the war had been ongoing for a long period, business would have been disrupted. The commission agent has requested others not to send or purchase any commodities to Türkiye. For all this, everyone must be together.
