A recent firing incident in New Dashmesh Nagar, Jalandhar, under the jurisdiction of Bhargava Camp police station, has left the community in shock. In the early hours of Wednesday, a dispute between two parties escalated, resulting in gunfire. During the incident, a middle-aged man named Pawan Kumar, also known as Chanta, was injured after sustaining two bullet wounds while sitting outside his residence with a friend. He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, where his condition remains serious. Police had recovered a bullet shell from the scene and investigated the matter, having recorded statements from the victim and a witness.

In a separate but related incident, tragedy struck a family in the same locality when a 4-year-old girl, who was sleeping on the terrace, was struck by a stray bullet in her knee. Upon discovering the injury and seeing blood, her family rushed her to the hospital. Doctors successfully removed the bullet from her knee during treatment and handed it over to the family. Both incidents have heightened concerns about public safety in the area, and police investigations are ongoing.

The girl's family members informed the police of the Bhargava Camp police station about the bullet injury. After the complaint, the police started an investigation. The girl's mother, Jyoti, a resident of New Dashmesh Nagar, said that she and her family were sleeping on the terrace at night. During this time, his 4-year-old daughter woke up late at night to drink water, and after drinking the water, she started screaming loudly. During this time he thought that maybe his daughter had fallen, after which he picked up the girl and laid her on his lap; her clothes were soaked in blood, and the girl was screaming in pain with loud cries.

Seeing blood coming out of the girl's knee, he, along with his family, took her to the doctor, where the doctors said that perhaps the bone was broken, but the daughter's leg turned blue, after which the doctors said that the daughter would have to be operated on.
During the operation, the doctors removed the bullet from the daughter's knee, about which they informed the police of the Bhargava Camp police station.
ACP West Savranjeet Singh said that the case looks suspicious. In the morning, the police will meet the doctor who performed the operation and inquire about the bullet and will definitely take action based on the statements of the victim's family.
