‘By February, India will have 40,000 active COVID-19 cases’: Health Minister Harsh Vardhan

Dr Harsh Vardhan said if COVID-19 appropriate behaviour is maintained, only 40 thousand active cases of corona will remain till February.

Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in a statement on Monday has said that if people keep following COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, it will help contain the spread of coronavirus in the coming months as well. 

He said that the government has talked to eminent experts and scientists of the world about the spread of the virus in the coming time. Based on their research and technology on coronavirus and looking at the declining trend of active cases in India, by February, the active cases of covid-19 will come down to 40 thousand.


He further added that the government will keep putting its best to curb the spread and transmission of the coronavirus infection. The vaccination process requires training of healthcare employees and other logistics by the state and central government. 

In the Sunday Samvad, while addressing the audience on social media the Health Minister has admitted that India is witnessing covid community transmission in certain areas.

On being asked if community transmission has developed in other states of the country, in response, Harsh Vardhan admitted that there is a possibility of community transmission of coronavirus in densely populated areas. Community transmission has been reported in different areas of several states, including West Bengal.

Vardhan said, however, community spread is not prevalent nationwide. It is only limited to a few districts in many states. The densely populated areas are at more risk of virus spread. Earlier, Dr Vardhan has been denying that the covid community spread.
