Reportedly, when he was told no, the restaurant owner's nephew went over to see what was wrong. That's when the customer went on the attack, hitting and punching the nephew, even knocking over a table.

ABC7 quoted Sarah, one of the owners, narrated the ordeal they had to face. She said that kind of incident has happened for the first time and everyone in her family is scared. Sarah also stated that her family is running the business for the past many decades, however, they never had to face such kind of incident. this was the first incident. Furthermore, Sarah informed that many customers hid in the restroom and in the kitchen during the incident. Two diners, however, helped hold the customer down before Berkeley police arrived a short time later. Berkeley Police was quoted by a US media saying that the customer was arrested for serious felony assault. Sarah says the suspect later said he acted the way he did because of a death in the family.
