California: Sikh family who was kidnapped in the US found dead; 8-month-old child dies of starvation

As per initial reports coming from California, three members of the family were shot dead, while the 8-month-old child lost her life due to starvation.

In a heart-wrenching development, a Sikh family of Indian origin who was abducted in the US state of California was found dead on Thursday. The massive development came after the state Police were conducting an investigation into the sensational kidnapping case of the four-member Sikh family. Earlier, it was reported that an Indian-origin family of four, including an eight-month-old child, were kidnapped in the US state of California and the police had warned the suspect was armed and considered dangerous. Reportedly, the family from Central Valley was kidnapped in Merced County, California.

As per initial reports coming from California, three members of the family were shot dead, while the 8-month-old child lost her life due to starvation. Their bodies were recovered from Almond grove in California. The family members were identified as eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri, her mother Jasleen Kaur (27), her father Jasdeep Singh (36), and her uncle Amandeep Singh (39). The Sikh family member originally belonged to Harsipind village in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.

Notably, on Thursday, a 48-year-old man considered a 'person of interest' named Jesus Manuel Salgado in the kidnapping of a four-member Sikh family, including an 8-month-old child, in the US state of California was taken into custody. The person in custody reportedly was in critical condition after he tried to kill himself, however, the Sikh family members were still missing at that time. It is pertinent to mention here that, how the Police found the body and why the family was kidnapped are yet to be revealed by the California authorities.

A vehicle owned by one of the family members was found on fire late Monday, which led law enforcement to determine that the four had been kidnapped. According to a news release, detectives received information on Tuesday morning that one of the victim’s bank cards was used at an ATM in Atwater in Merced County. Initially, the California authorities stated that they were 'taken against their will' while at a business in the 800 block of South Highway 59 in Merced, which is in central California between Modesto and Fresno.
