The newly appointed Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi, today called Sidhu the head of the “family” and urged him to ‘sit and resolve issues with the party’. 
“Whoever is the party president, is the head of the family,” said CM Channi.
Sidhu, today released a video in which he raised questions over the induction of ‘tainted’ politicians into the cabinet and appointment of corrupt officers in the administration. He spoke about appointment of Advocate General, APS Deol who had legally defended former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in Behbal Kalan police firing case, and who is still being investigated for his alleged role in the killing of two Sikh protesters in 2015 when the SAD-BJP combine was in power.
After Sidhu’s allegation, CM said, “If anybody has objection on any appointment, then I am not rigid on that… I don't have ego tussles."
"I told him the party is supreme, let's talk," said Punjab CM.
On being asked if Sidhu is causing disruption in party, Channi said “Sidhu does not want to destroy the government,” adding that he had spoken with him on the phone.
"Nothing has been done intentionally,” he insisted.

Meanwhile, briefing the media about the sacrilege case, Channi said that the government is appointing a dedicated team of public prosecutors and lawyers to handle the issue.
In today cabinet meeting CM Channi also announced to waive pending electricity bills of 53 lakh defaulters, covering -60-70 per cent of the total consumers. It will put a burden of Rs 1,200 crore on the state exchequer.
Channi told the media after the Cabinet meeting that it decided to waive pending electricity bills of all defaulters having connection up to 2 KW.
