During the men’s high jump event at Tokyo Olympics, both Barshim and Tambri jumped 2.37m to finish, after which the event officials asked both of them to make three more jumps but neither of them could go above 2.37 meters. Italian athlete, who was injured before the last jump, failed to jump for one more time. At that time, Brashim had a golden opportunity to make a jump and earn a Gold medal. But Barshim asked the authority what if I withdraw my name too?

The official then checked the rule book and said, “If you also withdraw your name, then we will have to give gold to both of you.” Barshim then decided to withdraw his name from the last jump and both he and Tambri were awarded the gold medal.
