Capt Amarinder reacts to the revocation of DGP Dinkar Gupta appointment says he will continue to be Punjab's DGP

Dinkar Gupta, a 1987 batch IPS officer, had succeeded Suresh Arora. In his previous stint, Gupta was posted as Director General of Police, Intelligence, Punjab, which involved the direct supervision of Punjab State Intelligence Wing, State Anti-Terrorist Squad and Organised Crime Control Unit.

Few hours after the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)  allowed the application challenging Dinkar Gupta appointment as Punjab DGP, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh clarified the matter. 

“The matter has to be sorted out between CAT, UPSC and the officer. However, Dinkar will continue to be the DGP of Punjab,” the chief minister media adviser, Raveen Thukral, tweeted quoting Amarinder, after the CAT, Chandigarh, allowed pleas by his two colleagues Siddharth Chattopadhyaya, DGP, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, and Mohammed Mustafa, DGP, Punjab State Human Rights Commission.

He had served as SSP of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts for more than seven years during the terrorist phase in Punjab. He also served as DIG (Jalandhar Range), DIG (Ludhiana Range), DIG (Counter-Intelligence), Punjab, and DIG (Intelligence), Punjab, till 2004.
