The family of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu a.k.a. Sidhu Moosewala recently welcomed a newborn baby into their family through IVF treatment. This prompted the Centre to open an investigation as Sidhu’s mother, Charanjit Kaur, 58, exceeded the maximum age that Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) procedures in India stipulates for IVF treatment. The government has put a stop to the investigation as Charan Kaur only gave birth to the child in India, whereas she got the treatment for the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) from London, England. Hence, the laws made by the government regarding IVF are not applicable on the birth of the child.

On closing the investigation, the Central Government said that Charan Kaur received IVF treatment from England as Balkaur Singh went to UK with his wife in November 2022. There is no restriction on the age of a woman undergoing IVF in the UK due to which the government has withdrawn from the investigation. Regarding this, Sidhu Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh said that the health department interrogated him only once. After that the department did not ask any further questions. Charan Kaur gave birth to a child on March 17 in a hospital in Bathinda.

According to reports, following the delivery of Charan Kaur's child, the Central Government had sought a reply from the Punjab Government on the matter. On this, Sidhu Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh had expressed his anger in a video statement on Social Media. which an unknown person had sent a complaint against the hospital to the Central Government.

The report of the entire matter was sought from the Secretary of Health Department of Punjab Government. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had expressed his objection to the Health Secretary seeking answers from Balkaur Singh regarding IVF. However, the central government had sought a reply in the matter within 2 weeks. According to sources, earlier the Health Department was going to investigate the hospital doing IVF, but after the objection expressed by the Chief Minister, the Health Department maintained silence on the matter and withdrew from the investigation.
